Things Mis-heard

That Honda commercial sounds like they're singing, "I'm a horny ninja."

Supposedly, the song is actually "I'm a Hoodie Ninja", but, c'mon: tell me this isn't actually saying "horny".

Bad Choice of Title

So, there's apparently a new movie coming out, this month. They've been spamming the airwaves with adverts for Season of the Witch.

Now, I'm old enough to remember another movie that had "Season of the Witch" in it's title. It was, pretty much, the movie that killed the Halloween franchise (until Rob Zombie did a nice job of resurrecting it). Given the movie's name and that it's starring the ever-spotty Nicholas Cage, I can't see ponying up $14/person to go see it in the theatre. Maybe I'd have considered going if the title were different. But, really, that choice of title screams to me, "this movie sucks so hard we had to give it a title to let you know it before you got here."

Advertising WTFs

One of the joys of telecommuting is that you can have your TV on to act as background noise. The downside, is that, sometimes, that background noise intrudes on your conscious thoughts. This seems to be particularly so when something stupid is aired.

Today, the intrusion came from a commercial by the makers of Chia Pets. They were flogging chia-heads of the famous presidents (all the ones on Rushmore plus Obama). They were saying how big an honor such a display would be for those who were rendered in chia and how patriotic such a display would be. All I could think was, "yeah, I'm sure that George Washington did what he did so he could be 'honored' in chia;" and "oh well, at least this isn't an Obama vibrator" thing.

I want to know what kind of shit the marketing guys were smoking when they thought to write down that such abominations would be seen by anyone as honorific.

/facepalm

Dear "Senator Barb":

So, were you on the front lines fighting for gender-neutral car insurance pricing? Or, more likely, because you're not being penalized and men generally don't whine as much about "fairness" as women, you sat quietly on the sidelines whenever pricing practices for auto insurance came up.

Nice pandering, by the way, "Senator Barb". Hopefully, enough of the men in Maryland realize "with people like her in office, my wallet will be raided to make things cheaper for some protected class."
