I love that I can get files to the server network more quickly when VPNing from home than from the desktop network in the same building.
How not to wake up in the middle of the night: with your eyeball literally stuck to the bed sheets because you somehow managed to move in such a way that your eyelid got pried open (or you just opened them in your sleep) and you rolled your face onto your pillow "just so".
So, the Concrete Blonde show was pretty decent. They've gone back to a more spare, less produced sound.

Giving me an error but then not addressing how to correct the error in your documents does NOT make me a happy camper.
HP should be congratulated(?) on setting new standards in documentation quality
I can really only conclude that the movie studios pay people to post bogus reviews on sites like Rotten Tomatoes.
Dear Phisher:
Does it make any kind of sense sending me an email to tell me you've deactivated the account you've sent email to (and that I need to give my login info so you can re-enable it)? I dunno which is sadder: the stupidity of the phishing attempts or that there are likely people that fall for them.

What the fuck is so difficult about producing good, step-by-step procedural documentation? VERITAS has managed to do so for YEARS.

Splice is perhaps the most hatefully awful movie I've seen - worse, even, than Dungeons & Dragons was.

Just got back from seeing the cinematic atrocity that is "Splice". A movie so hatefully bad that I didn't want to get up and walk out because I wanted to get my full measure of bile-churning, seething hateful money's worth. I can only assume that "Splice" was more a reference to the method by which the "story" was thrown together than it was to the DNA-scrambling theme of the movie. Oh. My. Gawd: AWFUL.
The dogs seem to determined to knock into the fans such that they no longer blow air in a useful direction/arc.
Just love driving home in the rain. You'd think these gits never saw precipitation, before.

About to watch Uwe Boll's "Rampage" to see if *any* of his movies aren't execrable.

another weekend, wasted. I'd abolish weekends, but they give a different kind of pointlessness to break the pointlessness of my work week.
I hate watching programs on DVR: invariably, I forget to blip through the commercials.

Is it still ok to tell people you "work out when you can" when you really never work out?

I'm not a soccer fan. Fortunately, I can tell how USA-v-UK is going, just by reading Twitter and FB updates.

There's little that's more offensive than having to read the manual for a gadget. FMEH!
WTF, Google: Why the hell can't I push entries in "My Maps" to my GPS? Doesn't do me much good to push Google-defined entities given that my GPS already is "Google-enabled" for all of those. Now I gotta manually enter everything into my GPS. Fuck you.

to all you hand-sanitizer users: it's going to be your fault when some benign critter turns into a super-bug that wipes us all out.
I find myself stuck DEEP in the summer sports doldrums: no hockey and even it's poor substitute, football, ain't available.

I'm pretty sure that, were it not for hockey, Roenick would have ended up in porn (looks like Randy West http://ping.fm/2emGS).
No matter how this game/series turn out, Capital One *has* to get Hartnell into one of their vikings commercials.

Some days, I just want to rip all the bloatware out and run just Lynx and Pine for my online tools.
Ok. So, I may have to ditch Chrome. The constant/forced updates changing pages' behaviors - often times NOT for the better - is getting old. When I visit sites I know are going to pop shit up, I add hosts table entries to make it so nothing pops up. Popping up an empty frame to tell me you couldn't connect kind of defeats the purpose of such null-hosting. Making it so I can't dismiss the notification is completely maddening. Fuck you, Google.
I find it really distasteful to hear about people's "social media strategies". Ugh. Fuck you and your "strategies".

I don't understand your friend suggestion algorithms. Dear Verizon:
Adding a YouTube widget that requires me to run Media Manager on my PC isn't the same as really supporting YouTube on your STB. Any widget that runs on your box really should have all of its functionality built in. I get that such takes up memory/storage space, but, it really strikes me as kind of "cheating" to say that you support 'functionality X' when the functionality doesn't quite reside on your device. I mean, if I'm gonna run Media Center on my laptop, why wouldn't I just hook my laptop directly up to my TV or stereo? Why would I want to run it through your piece of shit set-top box? Do I need fifteen layers of indirection just to do something simple?

Digging In The Archives
So, I've been on a personal archeology kick, lately. Somehow, I've actually managed to keep ahold of shit I wrote, online, in the late 90s and early 2000s. Ironically, one of the ones I found was written when I was going through another dredging...
Apparently, I wrote (or at least archived - because the file dates might have been changed when moving files) the following in summer of 2002...
So, in 2002, I found something I wrote in 1994. Reading it feels like something I could have written last week - not sixteen years ago. Does this mean that, even as I age, I'm not really progressing? Or does it simply mean that I'm fairly consistent in my outlook on life and my thought processes.
Don't go digging if you're afraid of what you might find. :p

Potential??
Just dredged up some notebooks I found in my move. One of them had a page labeled 5-23-94. Guess it was part of a collection of thoughts that I was trying to jot down. Any way, that entry was on "potential."
It's kinda funny, the things that are said to you in life. Many of them sound quite innocent, maybe even complimentary. If you think about them, however, many of them are quite insulting. As a ferinstance, when people tell you, "you've got potential." Now,I've heard this many times. In fact, I've heard it too many times. Today, though, something about it struck a chord. Think about it. What does telling someone they have potential really say? You may mean it in the nicest way possible. You truly see something in the other person that even that person may not know. Maybe you're trying to encourage them and help them by pointing out something they don't know. You may be trying to help them be the best that they could possibly be.But, think about what you're actually saying. At some level or another, you're saying that they don't measure up - measure up to what you think they could or should be. You're saying, "you should be better." Nice sentiment, eh?Perhaps it's just me overanalyzing things again.
